You Only Younger is a wonderful, full-service Medspa in Sugar Land. It is the perfect place for ladies and men who like to pamper themselves. Offering facials, laser hair removal, body contouring, waxing, lashes and injectables (to name a few), it's the only place you'll ever have to go to for a quick beauty pick-me-up. And from the moment Jennifer answers the phone, you will know you've reached the right place for beautification.

Owners, Kami Owen FNP-BC and Donna Braunreiter MS (and the rest of their licensed staff), will treat you like a Princess but you'll leave feeling like a Queen. Kami, a nurse practitioner, is a genius with a needle (not my quote) who is constantly reading up on the latest non-surgical treatments that will turn back time. Donna, a licensed esthetician, does facials, micro-needling (promotes collagen), laser hair removal and a hundred other beauty regimens. See their website for a complete list of spa services.

Join You Only Younger's email blasts for monthly specials. And remember, any time you refer a friend, they will gift you with a $50 credit! The three people I have brought in have all been thrilled with YOY's services. I know you will be too."

Fact or Fiction?
To stay heart-healthy, exercise for 1 straight hour every day.

"Being physically active is important for your heart, but you don't have to carve out an hour every day to do it. The American Heart Association suggests at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least 5 days a week. Or you can do at least 25 minutes of more vigorous activity 3 days a week. That can be anything like walking, swimming, or biking. You can break it up into 10 or 15 minutes here and there. The goal is just that you move."

imgAdd a multivitamin to your daily health regimen.

People who take a daily multivitamin/mineral supplement have a lower risk of colon cancer and heart disease. And that's not all...the folic acid in your multivitamin is almost twice as absorbable than folic acid found in the food you eat.

Fall-Winter Fashion Alert!

Chunky sweaters are back this season! Cuddle up in your favorite big sweater for a cool night out...you'll be comfy and make a hot fashion statement all at once!

Q: My arms, hands, and legs are dry and dull-looking. My hands even have brown spots on them. What is the best way to get soft, glowing skin in these areas while eliminating the embarrassing brown spots?

A: We all have times that we feel our skin looks dry, dull, and lifeless! Unfortunately, as we age, the UV exposure adds up and can leave skin sun-damaged and brown spots can start to appear. Also, the skin on the surface can look dull and dry. Here are a few easy quick things you can do to improve the texture, color, and suppleness of the skin.

  1. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!! Dull skin can be due to the skin cells on the surface hanging around too long and becoming dry. Exfoliators remove the outer layer of dry skin while also stimulating the body's own biofeedback to produce new healthy skin cells. The result is fresher looking skin that is no longer dry and dull. When choosing an exfoliator for the face be sure to avoid synthetic scrubs that can be sharp and harmful to the skin and possibly even cause small microcuts in the skin causing irritation. Scrubs like gloMinerals Pumpkin Enzyme scrub have natural enzymes and jojoba beads to gently exfoliate the skin without the irritation. When choosing a scrub for the body sugar and salt scrubs are very popular and effective, but make sure those are for the body only. The skin on your face is much too tender for the salt and sugar. For the body our favorite is gloMinerals Lavender Mint Salt Scrub. I like to use it at night and wake up with refreshed hydrated skin!
  2. Chemical peels: Chemical peels are a great way to exfoliate and rid your skin of the pigmentation caused by sun damage but also reduce the appearance of fine lines. Chemical peels are best done I a series usually 4-6 weeks apart. Now is a great time to start a peel series and be ready for the holidays with beautiful refreshed skin!
  3. Photofacials or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses light energy and converts it to heat which heats and removes pigmentation from the skin. This very effective treatment is non-ablative which means it targets below the skins surface and does not have the same down time as chemical peels. IPL treatments are also best in a series of usually three. Due to the nature of this treatment it is not appropriate for darker skin tones.
  4. Water!! Water is one of the best beauty ingredients ever!! Our body sends water to all of the vital organs first. Therefore, even if you are a slight bit dehydrated, your skin does not get the water it needs to remain soft and plump and begins to show fine lines. A great rule of thumb for water is to take your weight / 2 and this is the number of ounces to drink in a day.

All of these treatments and tips can have your skin looking rejuvenated in no time. Visit You Only Younger and reserve a complimentary consultation to see which treatments are right for you and your skin.

Bye-Bye Dry, Damaged Summer Skin!

Summer is quickly coming to a close. No more long days spent in the brutal sun. As we head into fall, take this opportunity to eliminate the skin damage accrued over the last few months and repair your skin. Check out these results-driven treatments to restore your soft, blemish-free skin.

Micro-needling tightens, lifts, and revitalizes the skin. It diminishes fine lines, signs of sun damage, wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scarring.

Chemical peels work below the skin surface to reduce and rid your skin of sun damage. This treatment is a great way to exfoliate the skin and enhance tone and texture. There are various types of chemical peels to choose from depending on your specific concern, such as Glycolic peels, TCA peels, Vitamin C peels, and more. Your esthetician can help you select the peel that's best for your skin.

Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive exfoliation treatment that removes dead, damaged surface skin to expose healthy, radiant skin. Microdermabrasion is a painless procedure that firms and tones the skin. It can be tailored to target specific concerns, including sun damage, discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, and more.

A facial typically includes a consultation, cleansing, toning, exfoliation, custom mask, and hydration. Because these treatments are customized to address individual skin concerns, facials are a prevalent, noninvasive, inexpensive method for repairing summer-damaged skin.

And of course, using the appropriate at-home products is crucial to skin health.
