PDO Threads

Introducing the Innovative PDO Threads

When you think of facelifts, your first thought may be surgery, but this isn’t always the case. Often, a surgical facelift is the last option that experts suggest to clients. Especially when there is a much safer and more effective alternative available.

A PDO (Polydioxanone) thread is a specially designed medical grade thread that is made of synthetic sutures. The thread is very thin, leaner than a strand of hair. The ingredients used to develop the threads are body-safe and do not cause any allergies or health issues. The PDO threads are used to provide minimally invasive and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

Studies show that PDO threads have a relaxing effect on the facial muscles. This prevents the formation of frown lines and wrinkles. The process of stitching the PDO threads into the skin stimulates blood circulation in the body, enriching the treatment area with oxygen and nutrients.

The PDO threads are absorbable and they dissolve into the skin when used, making them the ideal solution for cosmetic procedures.

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO thread lift is a facelift that is provided using PDO threads. Here, aestheticians will use the PDO threads to pull your sagging skin back into its place and give you a youthful and smooth appearance.

Our team of expert aestheticians and cosmetic providers at You Only Younger have a cumulative experience of over 30 years in the field. They have done over 30,000 procedures during this time. PDO Threads Used During a Thread Lift

PDO thread lifts come in 3 basic varieties. Each type of PDO thread has its unique length, thickness, and texture. These threads have been designed to target specific cosmetic issues and are suitable for specific skin types. The 3 types are:

Monofilament PDO threads
Monofilament PDO threads are made from a single filament, making them the thinnest PDO threads on the market. These threads are used when you need a minor facelift. The monofilament PDO threads can be used to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of mild fine lines. They don’t lift moderate-to-severe folds.

Cog/Barbed PDO threads
Cog/barbed PDO threads have small barb-like extensions, which lift the skin up when sutured in. The barbs give the threads the strength to support the sagging skin and reduce the appearance of intense folds. These PDO threads are normally used when working on the forehead and sides of the head.

Screw PDO threads
Let’s say you have hollow cheeks or sunken-in eyes. Then, your aesthetician will use the screw PDO threads. These threads are made up of multiple filaments and are thick. When sutured into the skin, they increase the volume of the skin considerably.

All three types of PDO threads – monofilament, cog, and screw – stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, elastin, and collagen in the skin. Hyaluronic acid keeps the skin hydrated and facilitates faster healing of the sutures. Collagen is responsible for the fullness, shape, and lift of the facial tissues, while elastin is responsible for the flexibility and connectivity of the skin.

A PDO Thread Lift Can Help You
Regain Your Youthful Beauty

At You Only Younger, we are one of the leading PDO thread lift specialists in Texas. We work with our clients to understand their unique medical histories and cosmetic requirements, and then create a highly customized PDO thread lift plan that suits their needs.

We will start the procedure by anesthetizing the treatment area. We will use topical anesthetic creams and sedatives to numb your face and keep you calm during the treatment. If we’re working on the lower part of your face, we will use dental blockers to ensure there is limited movement during the procedure. This ensures that the threads stay in place while they’re being placed.

Once you are anesthetized, we will begin the treatment. Our specialists will choose a type of PDO thread depending on the area being lifted and your customized treatment requirements. They will weave the PDO threads into your sagging skin in a mesh-like pattern, pull the skin taut, and then stitch the PDO threads into your skin. When your skin is tightly pulled into place, the sagging disappears and you won’t see any deep folds or severe wrinkles.

Our professionals at You Only Younger use the Les Encres PDO threads to provide the best lift. These FDA approved Les Encres threads are very skin-friendly, biodegradable, and extremely versatile. They can be used to treat wrinkles, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, a sagging jawline, the neck, and jowls. They are the perfect choice for cheek augmentation.

The threads developed by Les Encres are capable of withstanding intense heat and moisture. This makes them great for people whose lifestyle involves extensive traveling or who live in extreme climates.

Once the procedure is done, our team will apply special Cearna patches, Auriderm cream, or PEMF to bring down the swelling, bruising, and redness you may have after the procedure.

Who Can Undergo the PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO thread lift is a very safe, FDA approved facelift procedure. It can be undergone by anyone above the age of 30, provided:

  • You do not have acne, cold sores, and rashes.
  • You are not allergic to the ingredients used to develop the PDO threads.
  • You don’t have an autoimmune condition or skin infection.
  • You are not on blood thinners.

If you are pregnant currently or nursing, please consult our specialists before scheduling the PDO thread lift session.

Recovering From the PDO Thread Lift

The bruising and inflammation will disappear in a day or two. Over the course of a few days, the PDO threads will naturally dissolve, ensuring there are no unsightly lines or sutures remaining on your face. You are asked not to frown, laugh, or make any expressions for 7 to 14 days. This ensures that you don’t break the PDO threads and give the sutures a chance to dissolve into your dermal cells.

When washing your face, do so only with clean water. Don’t use any rough face washes or cosmetics for a few days, at the risk of accidentally destroying the PDO threads.

The PDO threads once sutured in, can last as long as two years, depending on how well you care for your skin. Once you notice signs of sagging skin again, you can schedule another session of the PDO thread lift. Our med spa prides itself on providing the most personalized solutions designed to help you get the results you seek.
