How Juvéderm Works

Juvéderm is a skin rejuvenation and anti-aging injectable that helps you treat facial drooping, muscle loss, and wrinkles. Juvéderm is formulated using hyaluronic acid, which, when injected into your skin, provides volume and lift to your facial skin and muscles. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in our skin, but over time, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases and this leads to the onset of skin damage and aging. Juvéderm introduces hyaluronic acid into your skin and stimulates the release of elastin and collagen. Elastin is responsible for the stretch, softness, and suppleness of the skin. Collagen plumps up the facial muscle structures, strengthens the tissues in the face, and lifts the tissues back into place. Together, elastin and collagen provide a very natural youthful appearance, which will remind you of your younger days.

The Juvéderm Family of Dermal Fillers

There are two primary types of Juvéderm injectables available today. Each type of Juvéderm product has a set of variants that are designed to target specific cosmetic conditions. The different types of Juvéderm products are listed below.

Juvéderm Ultra

When Juvéderm was first introduced, the very first product was the Juvéderm Ultra. There are 4 types of Juvéderm Ultra dermal fillers, targeting different levels of severity in aging:

Juvéderm Ultra

The starting product in the Juvéderm Ultra range, this dermal filler is ideal to fill-in mild wrinkles and lines. The Juvéderm Ultra comes with lidocaine, which reduces any pain or discomfort that you may experience when the fillers are being injected.

Juvéderm Ultra 2 PLUS

The most powerful of the Juvéderm Ultra range of dermal fillers, the Juvéderm Ultra 4 can be used to correct severe wrinkles and fill in deep folds and hollows. Everything from sunken eyes to dented cheeks can be filled-in and plumped-up. The best part about this dermal filler is that it can completely transform your face in a matter of days.

Juvéderm Vycross

Juvéderm Vycross range is the newest and most premium in the Juvéderm family of dermal fillers. The Juvéderm Vycross range was formulated to provide a more precise and smoother filling, compared to the Ultra.

It includes 3 variants:

Juvéderm Volbella

Thin lips can make us look very old. The Juvéderm Volbella is the only FDA-approved dermal filler that has been uniquely formulated for lip volumizing and contouring. The Volbella is made of a smooth and soft gel which can be easily shaped inside the lips, when injected. This allows our aestheticians to give you the lip shape you’ve always wanted.

The Juvéderm Volbella offers a very natural shape for the lips and also reduces the appearance of perioral lines – the lines located around the mouth – and smokers lines.

Juvéderm Vollure

The smoothest of the Juvéderm family, Juvéderm Vollure offers the most precise filling of all Juvéderm dermal fillers. The molecules in the Vollure are small and lightweight, making them perfect for filling-in smaller lines and moderate wrinkles. The Juvéderm Vollure is also great for filling-in the tight spots around the eyes, the nose and the lips, where other Juvéderm fillers may not be effective.

The Juvéderm Vycross range is slightly more expensive than the Juvéderm Ultra range. However, it offers much better results and lasts significantly longer as well.

Juvéderm Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma offers volume and contouring to the deeper facial tissues. Unlike other Juvéderm products that are injected at the surface level of the skin, the Juvéderm Voluma is injected deep inside the cheeks and this increases the structural strength and size of your cheeks.

Any hollowness in the face will be immediately filled-up and you can contour your face to create a natural, youthful and smooth appearance.

at You Only Younger

We offer both Juvéderm Vycross and Juvéderm Ultra dermal fillers in Sugar Land, Texas.

Our team of aestheticians and cosmetic providers will evaluate your dermatological requirements and suggest a highly personalized treatment. The Juvéderm product will be selected to target and address aging issues that are unique to you.

Once we begin, we will anesthetize you using nerve blockers. We can even give you a sedative to put you at ease before the treatment. A small vial of the Juvéderm filler is taken and is injected into the treatment area. This is repeated as many times as required.

The Juvéderm filler is gently massaged into the treatment area, so as to prevent any clumps.

After Your Procedure

After the procedure, we use red light therapy and topical lotions to reduce any bruising and swelling that may have developed as a result of the procedure. The Juvéderm dermal filling procedure is absolutely pain-free and can be scheduled by anyone above the age of 30.

If you’re currently pregnant, breastfeeding your baby or are on any medication, please speak to our cosmetic experts before booking your session.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

What are dermal fillers, and how do they work?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume and smoothness to the skin. They work by filling in wrinkles and fine lines and adding volume to areas like lips and cheeks. Dermal fillers are usually made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring gel that binds water molecules and makes the skin look soft and supple. As you age, your skin’s hyaluronic acid levels decrease, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. Dermal fillers restore hyaluronic acid levels to reverse the signs of aging.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are generally considered safe when administered by qualified professionals. However, there can be risks like infection, allergic reactions, or lumps. Choosing a skilled practitioner and discussing medical history is crucial.

Which areas of the face can be treated with dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers can treat various facial areas, including nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips, cheeks, and under-eye hollows. They can restore volume, smoothen wrinkles, and enhance facial contours for a rejuvenated look.

How long do the results of dermal fillers last?

The longevity of dermal filler results varies based on the type used and individual factors. Typically, results last from 6 months to 2 years. Follow-up treatments are needed to maintain the desired effects.

Do dermal filler injections hurt?

Discomfort during dermal filler injections is usually minimal. Many fillers contain a numbing agent, and our practitioners use topical anesthetics to minimize pain. Mild swelling or bruising may occur temporarily after the procedure.

What's the difference between dermal fillers and Botox?

Dermal fillers add volume to smooth wrinkles and restore contours by physically filling the treated areas with hyaluronic acid. Botox is a neurotoxin that relaxes facial muscles that cause wrinkles, such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. As such, Botox suppresses dynamic wrinkles, and dermal fillers treat fine lines and static wrinkles.

Are there any potential side effects of dermal fillers?

Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, and itching at the injection site. Most of these side effects diminish over a few days.

How long is the recovery period after dermal filler treatment?

Dermal filler recovery is typically short. Patients can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure, but minor swelling or bruising might last a few days. Practitioners may advise avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure during this time.

How do I choose the right type of dermal filler for my needs?

Selecting the right dermal filler involves considering your goals, the areas to be treated, and your skin type. Our practitioners will determine the appropriate filler type, consistency, and formulation to best achieve your desired results.
