Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy, at it's Best

Are you a competitive athlete or an amateur sportsperson?

Extensive physical exertion can make your joints, tissues, and muscles weak. If you don’t follow the right pre and post-workout practices, you may end up injuring yourself. This can affect your performance.

At You Only Younger, we are one of Sugar Land, Texas’s leading sports massage medical spas. Our team of experts can provide a specialized body massage and help you recover after a challenging game.

Contact us for more information. We welcome clients from Richmond, Fulshear, Southwest Houston, and Katy.

Benefits of Massage for Athletes & Sportspersons

Sports massage helps:

  • Loosen muscles that are tight, knotted, or cramped.
  • Stretch and warm up the muscles before sporting activity.
  • Reduce chances of injury or spasm.
  • Increase the range of movement and flexibility of the joints and muscles.
  • Keep the nerves less excitable and more stable.
  • Improve blood flow to all the parts of the body, keeping the internal organs healthy.
  • Strengthen the joints and muscles and reduce the need for extended periods of rest.
  • Athletes sleep better and recover faster.

Sports Massage vs
Deep Tissue Massage

At You Only Younger, our specialized body massage largely incorporates a personalized sports massage for athletes, amateur sportspersons, and sports enthusiasts. This is different from a regular deep tissue massage.

The focus of a sports massage is to heal and rehabilitate your body, after intensive sporting or exercise activity. A deep tissue massage, on the other hand, doesn’t have such a specialized focus.

In a deep tissue massage, the focus will be on relieving any stress or knots – whether they come from sports or not. For example, the cramp/injury can come from sleeping the wrong way or maintaining a poor posture when working. The keyword here is “muscle relaxation”.

However, in sports massage, the keyword is “muscle mobilization” or getting your muscles ready for your next sporting performance.

So, although the massaging techniques are similar in both, sports massage is highly focused on relieving the pain, cramps, knots, and injuries in the bones, muscles, and tissues, with the intention of treating and preventing sports-related injuries.

You Only Younger’s
Specialized Body Massage

At You Only Younger, you can undergo our specialized body massage even if you’re not involved in extensive sporting activity. Any person who works out in the gym or indulges in outdoor exercises can book one of our massages.

We offer 3 distinct specialized body massages at our Sugar Land med spa:

  • 30 minutes massage session
  • 60 minutes massage session
  • 90 minutes massage session

The sports massages we provide are highly personalized. Each person’s body is different and every sport/activity has a unique requirement.

We do a comprehensive evaluation of your sporting history, medical history, and your future sporting/workout needs, before designing a custom massage plan for you. We also conduct an orthopedic & biomechanical assessment to understand any underlying conditions that we may need to address during the session.

In fact, this is why we have divided our massage services based on time and not massage techniques. Our massage therapists use a combination of sports massage techniques to address issues that are unique to you. We focus on parts of the body that you need to attend and use techniques that feel comfortable and are effective on you.

Our specialists have a cumulative experience of over 3 decades in the field and they have helped numerous sportspersons and athletes return to top performance in no time.

Getting Ready for a Sports Massage

• Get into a calm and positive frame of mind before the massage. Stress can make your muscles tighten further, leading to injury. Keeping calm will make your massage more enjoyable and effective.
• Drink water before the massage. It can hydrate the body and facilitate the unlocking of knotted muscles.
• Speak to our massage therapists about the specific issues you want to address and the results you’re looking for. Seek clarifications about the massage techniques being used and feel empowered to decline any massage technique you’re not comfortable with.

How Often Should You Get a Sports Massage?

The best thing about getting sports massages is that there’s no limit to the number of times you can undergo a massage. The specialized body massages we provide, are designed to rejuvenate you and recharge you.

However, we recommend that you speak to your coach or trainer in order to plan your massage sessions carefully. You can schedule a sports massage with us:

  • Before the game
  • During training periods
  • After the game

Our professionals will always be available to help you whenever you need us. Contact us to schedule an appointment.
